Pineapple fruit facts

Pineapple is also known as Pina, Nanas and Ananas which is the second most popular tropical fruit. Today, pineapple is the third of the world's production. Pineapple fruit should be harvested at the right time. It softens as it ripens but it does not get any sweeter after it has been picked.


Types of Pineapple fruit:
Smooth cayenne 
– Hawaii variety weights 3 to 5 pounds, pale yellow to yellow flesh.
Red Spanish
 – It looks like square, had tough cells suited for shipping, flesh is pale yellow.
Sugar loaf



– largest variety of pineapple, had white flesh, no woody core.
Golden Supreme – Contains lower acid, sweeter than other varieties, rich golden yellow flesh.
